The war zone

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

Mass shootings, government corruptions, wars, pandemic, vaccination verses non-vaccination, stock market, family loss and separation, homelessness, racial tension, etc… The shifting feels like a wars zone.

Warfare starts in the mind, what we see, hear, and experience enters into the heart and lodges in the spirit. What’s in the heart shows externally.

I’m reminded of the most traumatic experience I had in life. My heart dropped and I knew that part of my life was over, but there was a part of me that thought, “maybe God will allow a change of heart.”

My spirit weakened, I had loss of appetite. My existence was shallow at a spiritual low. It felt like death hit me. I was grieving. I was in a vulnerable state of mental and physical warfare.

Recently, while listening to a pastor teach about warfare, he stated a scripture that has been in my heart, Luke 4:1… I read how satan tried to tempt Jesus and I thought about the warfare and temptations happening in our world.

Satan attempted to proposition or tempt Jesus during His weakest moments. I thought about the strength and example Jesus exemplified in these few verses.

Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness and for forty days He fasted. The wilderness is an isolated open area uninhabited… no person or animal in sight, except for the tempter who He faced during His weakest moments.

There were three areas which Satan tried to tempt Jesus, Luke 4:1-13.

Satan propositioned Jesus, if you be the son of God, turn stones into bread. Satan knew Jesus was hungry. Jesus knew the power he possessed, and He also knew satans intention was for Him to bow down and worship him.

I’ve heard people challenge believers faith… if God is a healer why are sick people not healed… after all, He has the power to reverse sickness. I thought many days, if God is a healer why didn’t he heal my marriage? How come God doesn’t stop the chaotic traumas thats happening in our world today?

We often challenge God to change a situation, but fail to recognize each situation is contingent on many variables… individual faith, sins that lead to sickness, and sometime God’s plan is for us to experience the wilderness as Jesus.

Then, Satan took Jesus to the high mountain showing Him all the kingdoms of the earth, telling Him this belongs to me. I will give it all to you if you will worship me. Jesus reminded him who God is... let me remind you, satan deceives you during your lowest, as you are opened to vulnerability and being misled… he presents mocking unrealistic hopes that appear true and beautiful.

Satan took Jesus to the Holy city Jerusalem at the top of the temple and said, throw yourself down, after all you have angels that will lift you up and keep you from hitting the stone.

Why would you tell someone to do such a hideous thing knowing they are protected? And, those who protect Him might turn on you. Jesus told him there is no need to tempt God, He does not have to prove Himself to you.

So my question is this, why did Satan believe he could tempt Jesus to do what he wanted?

Prior to Jesus departing earth, He let His disciples know who is the ruler of this world. Jesus said this, “I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world (Satan) is coming. And he has no claim on Me [no power over Me nor anything that he can use against Me];” (John 14:30).

Satan, who is named the ruler of this world, the kingdom of darkness, knew he had power over the world. He couldn’t tempt the divine nature of Jesus so maybe he thought “since His earthly flesh is in a weak state, He will yield to my temptations.”

Many persons faith is being challenged because of the chaotic happenings in our world. The world is offering false gods and many believers are falling prey to the deception of the prince of this earth. Deception is rampant, and if possible the elect could be deceived. I’ve heard truth intertwined with false narratives… and because fear has gripped the hearts of many people, unbeknownst to them, they are led into satans trap designed to deceive and control them.

“The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses (stronghold),” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Seek the divine nature of Christ that was in existence before satan became the prince of this world. His deceptive plan and narrative for this world is for you to bow down and worship him.
